Emerson, Lake and Palmer
Приєднався 25 бер 2020
Formed in 1970, Emerson, Lake & Palmer helped define and set new standards throughout one of the most ambitious and experimental periods in 20th-Century popular music. Drawn from The Nice, King Crimson, and Atomic Rooster respectively, they were hailed as progressive rock’s first supergroup. Combining driving dynamics, intricate arrangements, and virtuosic skill, between 1970 and 1978, ELP released seven studio recordings and three live albums. Such was their popularity on both sides of the Atlantic that their records repeatedly achieved Platinum status sales.

Such was their popularity on both sides of the Atlantic that their records repeatedly achieved Platinum status sales.
Titles such as Tarkus, Trilogy, and Brain Salad Surgery created distinctive worlds that incorporated soaring themes, other-worldly timbres, yearning ballads, humorous pastiche and dramatic long-form conceptual works. While they adapted pieces by classical composers as stylistically varied as Bartok, Mussorgsky, Copland, Ginastera and Rodrigo, ELP sounded like nobody else but themselves.
The trio performed live one final time at London’s High Voltage Festival in July 2010 just weeks short of their debut gig 40th anniversary.
Although Keith Emerson and Greg Lake both sadly passed away in 2016, interest in ELP continues to grow, and Carl Palmer’s own band regularly performs a setlist dedicated to the unique music he helped create. ELP's music continues to find new audiences more than 50 years from their beginning, a striking testament to the group's irrepressible blend of energy, eclecticism, and visceral excitement.

They're too good for that silly HOF...
LOVE THIS. Keith and ELP forever.
This reminds me of my youth. Being an airman at Davis Monthan AFB, Tucson, Arizona.
Timeless classic....death does not discriminate
I am all there is Negative! primitive! limited! i let you live! But i gave you life What else could you do? To do what was right I'm perfect! are you?
Anyone here from the 2024 Detroit Ford Fireworks?
....and this was a REHEARSAL!!!! Was at Olympic Stadium with my Sister on a Boston to Montreal Roadtrip...saw them SETTING UP for this Concert!!! What A MEMORY.. .
You cannot repeat this band.
Your ate a Lucky Man
I'm named Emerson after these.. I'm female 😑 I've spent my whole life explaining that it's not just a boys name. I get letters through the post addressed to 'Mr' and I hear surprise in peoples voices on the phone when they expect a man to answer 😂. I dont even like this music. It's so dull. Thanks a bunch mum lol
Love this, I want it to be played at my funeral.
Astonishing. Takes me away.
Uhhh, isnt this Yankee Stadium in New York?
Illahee State Park in Bremerton Washington. And that's all I need to say about it. An area of the finest liberty caps.
Painfully, I found out about Keith's death in an MRI, just tore me u
Some people think ELP peaked with Brain Salad Surgery with Karn Evil 9, or with Works. No, this is peak ELP. This song right here.
this goes beyond naming it a song... this is an epic piece of music and you can find on you tube several classical musicians going through the score and be mesmerised by this! so.. maybe we can regard this as the new generation classical music by now! It's immortal in any case!! as it should be!
Ho 74 anni.... questo pezzo ha accompagnato i sogni e i viaggi dei miei 20 anni.... meraviglia senza tempo.....
We're going to take a break for brain surgery, a little break.
AMOOOOO
Holy Sheet
Growing up in the 70'/80's my father would take us to tower records n buy all the great shit when music was really made. Out of guilt we would listen in what they now call a man cave. Colored lights in each corner of the ceiling with a black light, a triangle light box and each went to an instrument. Fell in love when I got older. Miss my Dad so much ❤
After all these years I'd forgotten how good this song really was! Because I really love the harmonizing! They were great, as most of the music from the 70s was! (Not counting disco, I never count Disco!) Long live rock and roll! Today there isn't even any musical instruments!!
Somewhere a modern sound engineer is thinking how much better this would sound with Autotune.......
I highly doubt it. Greg Lake had one of the best, strongest, cleanest, clearest, voices of his time. As young as he was when ELP recorded this album, the quality of his voice was beyond his years.
Looked quite cold there.
Música relaxante!!💆♀️💆♀️💆♀️💆♀️
This just in..."This song was originally intended for King Crimson's debut album In the Court of the Crimson King, but band leader Robert Fripp didn't think it would fit into the album's context." I agree, Mr. Fripp...King Crimson's debut came out in '69. I believe I read somewhere that Greg wrote it as a teenager...which ended in '67 when he turned 20. One of the greatest examples of the NEW Moog synth. R.I.P. Keith, Greg, and Robert...pronounced Moe.g...not Moo.g
There might have been things I missed...but it sure wasn't ELP in their heyday. My first concert as a young man of 13...California Jam...1974...seeing Keith on his spinning grand piano blew my mind. The 70's and 80's were so fecking great for music. Real music created by real musicians...todays music is shite.
I'd have never found this hadn't it been for technology and my ability to hum the tune haha.
Greg Lake Beautiful Human Being - He started so very young playing guitar, composing songs and his voice - lastly not least. He fluctuated on and off with a timeless band King Crimson who desperately needed him but he chose to keep his focus on his two friends Emerson and Palmer. Lucky to see them 1971 NYC Father Christmas/ Lucky Man - Geez...❤❤❤
I ❤ them! My friend James' mom drove us in to see one of their earlier concerts in NYC - around 1971 at Madison Square Garden lower theater concert hall - (not sure of spelling - Feldt Forum ? -)
Love this song 🎵
In my own opinion, this and the originally released version have the same problem. They're both too long and should've ended shortly after hitting the 3:00 mark. I liked the live version from "Welcome Back My Friends..." best.
I was just seven years old when this song came out, and I thought it was the coolest thing ever.
I couldn't believe Keith actually took his own life because of poor criticism. Man know one could play like him. HE WAS A SAVANT.
I’m so cold watching them🥶
✝️👈🙏
It doesn't get any better, what a 3 piece !!!
Incredible! One of the most unappreciated bands of that era. Every single note of this played from memory.😳 Greg Lake worked with so many other artists. His talent was amazing. He left us too soon.😢
Me ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Google is evil
Dios nos haga libre con esta obra de arte
❤
❤❤❤
Just gotta love UA-cam with there pop up ads in the middle of the song. Total Jerks.
The sound of Universe.
WTF????!!! Commercials in the middle of this song?? I will NEVER buy that BS EVER!
His concerts!! He plays his many guitars... ... and his voice: So sublime! Looking forward to see him in action one more time_ even though this time, without my husband; we used to sing his songs together; he passed away_ Too many good memories ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
he never lets the guitar have some
